Adele Robots, located in Llanera, attended the Ceatec fair in Japan, one of the largest events dedicated to this sector, where the company’s models received a very warm welcome.
Robots are the future but in Japan they are the here and now, making it a country worth considering for any company interested in creating and distributing robots. The company Adele Robots, located in the Asturias Technology Park and dedicated to the design of androids, has already made that step, and with excellent results.
In October, the Asturian company, which was founded in 2010 with the aim of making people’s lives easier by integrating robots into society, travelled to Japan accompanied by Gaku Matsui, an Asturian-based Japanese consultant for the Principality of Asturias Foreign Promotion Society (Asturex). The Asturian entourage had the chance to participate in one of the largest fairs dedicated to this sector – Ceatec – where today’s technology giants were able to get to know the company’s “stars”.
Adele defines one of them – “Tico” – as an “intelligent and emotional” robot, adding that it has a large capacity for learning and adaptation. This android has been designed to perform different tasks in the field of education, marketing, publicity, and sectors related to food. Normally, Tico works as a host at events, but it is also a customer consultant in supermarkets. It is the most widely recognised robot.
According to the company, Adele has two particular strengths compared to the other companies: the design of its robots (friendly and approachable) and “Fiona”, a virtual assistant for mobile platforms (telephones or tablets), which is able to interact fluently with other speakers.
The smallest of the three is “Nuka”, a baby-seal sized robot, used mainly for medicine. It has been designed for use in treatments of people suffering from dementia symptoms, older people, hospitalised children, or people with some mental disabilities, for which affection is essential.
Adele’s designs were well received. Some of the companies participating in the fair were interested in the models with the intention of distributing the robots.
