Through the area Invest in Asturias, IDEPA seeks to attract talent to a region that has ideal conditions for remote work
The situation resulting from the COVID19 pandemic has brought a new scenario to the world economy. Months of confinement and almost total paralysis of economic and business activity have led to an increase in teleworking, a circumstance that is both uncertain and hopeful, also for Asturias.
Many companies and professionals were not used to working remotely. However, many other organisations have been developing this methodology for years, endeavouring to make this form of inter-company communication possible and demonstrating that it is real and productive.
In the case of Spain, the ability to take on this new challenge varies greatly between autonomous communities. Asturias starts from an advantageous position, according to the report Capacity for remote working can affect lockdown costs differently across places, published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
This report analyses the impact on the different European regions of the cost of a lockdown according to their capacity to deploy remote work.
Asturias, leading Spain in telework potential
In that study, only five Spanish communities appear on the map with the possibility of reaching a percentage of more than 30 % of telework within their economies: Madrid (with more than 40 %) and in an interval of between 30 % and 35 %, Asturias, Basque Country, La Rioja and Catalonia.
Asturias has very powerful elements for attracting investment, from education and talent to an innovative ecosystem, including strong institutional support and a strategic location.
In addition, our region enjoys a business environment and a business and telecommunications network that are ideal for promoting teleworking, a modality that has come to stay.
But Asturias is much more. It is beach, mountain, nature, sport, leisure, culture… It is the perfect setting to enjoy a quality of life that few places can offer.
This is where this campaign, #SafeWorkParadise, comes in. It aims to attract talent by offering professionals and companies a better quality of life in a unique working environment.
