The Sociedad de Promoción Exterior Principado de Asturias S.A. (Asturex) is undertaking a series of activities, such as direct and visiting trade missions and contact between Asturian and North American companies, which are framed within an internationalisation drive strategy focusing on commercial sphere programmes with the State of Texas.
Commercial activities with Texas, that began in February and March with direct missions from Asturian companies in the metal, ICT and construction sectors to the USA, intensified throughout the month of May.
Visiting Trade Mission with Jacobs
On 11th and 12th May an inverse trade capture mission was undertaken with the US engineering company Jacobs. The action targeted Asturian companies that are presented as potential suppliers for the multinational.
For this meeting, Asturex studied the companies that were interested in meeting with Jacobs and selected a series of companies that attended meetings with Jacobs. During this visit from the multinational’s Purchasing Manager and Quality Manager, IDEPA gave a presentation to promote the competitive advantages of Asturias.
Direct Trade Mission to Texas
Asturex has planned the organisation of a direct trade mission to Texas for the end of September 2016; an activity framed within the business opportunities programme strategy in this US state.
Jacobs, the multinational with its headquarters in Pasadena, California, is present in over 30 countries with its network of 250 offices and a turnover of over 12,000 million dollars. Its activity centres on undertaking feasibility and environmental impact studies, and it is present in sectors such as aerospace, automotive industry, construction and telecommunications, amongst others.
Without a doubt, this series of commercial actions signifies a drive in the globalisation policy followed by IDEPA and ASTUREX, whose main objective is to help and create business opportunities for Asturian companies in its external promotion strategy in foreign markets. It also intends to present the region to potential investors within the framework of the Invest in Asturias programme.
