Asturias continues to position itself as an attractive destination for the international audiovisual industry. From October 17 to 19, six producers and location managers from the United States, the Netherlands, and Spain participated in a familiarization trip organized by the Asturias Paraíso Natural Film Commission and the Sekuens Agency, aimed at discovering and evaluating the most suitable locations for future productions in the region.
Over three days, participants visited sites of high historical, cultural, and industrial value, including Pozo Sotón, Pozo Santa Bárbara, Bustiello, the Fábrica de Armas and the Oviedo Congress Palace, the Laboral City of Culture, the former Tabacalera Factory in Gijón, and the Centro Niemeyer in Avilés. The program also included a meeting with local audiovisual industry representatives, allowing participants to exchange experiences, explore potential collaborations, and highlight the talent and technical capabilities present in the region.
These initiatives strengthen Asturias’ presence on the international map of film and television, while also generating a positive impact on the regional economy by attracting foreign investment and creating opportunities in sectors such as tourism, hospitality, and creative services. The international visibility of the region contributes to highlighting its cultural, natural, and industrial wealth.
The combination of unique landscapes, adapted infrastructure, and a supportive institutional environment makes Asturias an ideal setting for all types of audiovisual productions: feature films, series, commercials, and documentaries. With this initiative, Asturias reinforces its identity as a top cultural and creative destination, demonstrating that it is not only an attractive place to live and visit but also a strategic space for investing in and developing audiovisual projects with global reach.
